Wanaka - a place for all seasons

Summer in Wanaka

Summer in Wanaka is warm and dry; a boaties paradise. The lake is a popular destination for families. Parents can enjoy a laze on the beach while the kids enjoy a swim in the lake or relax by our pool at Fairway Motel, and enjoy a barbeque.

A Wanaka summer is also the time to go walking. The Mt Aspiring National Park has numerous popular walking tracks with spectacular views of the mountains and glaciers.

Jet-boating, parasailing, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, rafting and climbing are all available locally too. Get into it and enjoy summer basing your self at the Fairway Motel

Autumn in Wanaka

Wanaka explodes into colour in the Autumn, bringing forth the Festival of Colour every two years. Walk the Waterfall Creek track and enjoy the colours around the lake. We get a lot of keen photographers this time of year!

Autumn is a great time to have a local Venus coffee by the fireside at Relishes café or to get out and hire a mountain bike and bike the Fisherman's track. Rest and relax in the evening at the Fairway Motel

On the cooler evenings a visit to the quirky Cinema Paradiso could be on the cards after a hearty meal at the Speights Alehouse. Autumn is the time of plenty here, with food and wine aplenty. Bon appetit!

Winter in Wanaka

What can we say about a Wanaka winter? Skiing and boarding is what!

Wanaka is close to 4 ski areas. Treble Cone and Cardrona accommodate skiers and snowboarders and are a short drive from Fairway Motel.

The Snow Park is a specialty snow boarding park and the Snow Farm is a specialty cross-country ski area. Get your winter woolies on and get out there on the slopes!

Warm up after your day on the slopes in your cosy Fairway Motel accommodation

Spring in Wanaka

Spring is the time to get in early and enjoy the sparkling surrounds as they begin to burst into life in preparation for the summer ahead.

Get into the morning cafe culture then catch some early spring snow at Treble Cone in the afternoon.

Stop on the way home at the View Mt Aspiring beach and enjoy the late afternoon light as the days begin to stretch their legs and get longer and longer!
